DESIGN FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING [M127]

As millions of baby boomers turn 65 and older, the U.S. will experience considerable growth in its older population. Are you ready to renovate and design homes that foster independent living, while balancing accessibility, usability and safety with a tasteful and pleasing aesthetic? This seminar will help you understand the characteristics of the baby boomer generation, and how their numbers and interests shape demand for independent living strategies. We will consider tactics for renovating and designing homes, with special emphasis on the role of color, sheen and light on aging eyes. You’ll also leave with tips for incorporating independent living strategies into your designs, as well as how to manage “aging in place” conversations with your clients.

You’ll become conversant in all the important functions of the workstation, what to look for in a workstation, and how best to make it blend into the old landscape.
